Dear St. Michael’s,

We know that there is a significant snow storm arriving to our region this evening, but wanted to reassure you that CHURCH IS ON although Bishop Gayle Harris will not be with us. In addition, we have Evensong happening at 5:00 pm on Sunday and all the events scheduled for MLK Day on Monday are STILL HAPPENING. The Budget Meeting will most likely be moved to Sunday, January 27 at 9am (no forum that day).

However, I want to encourage you to stay home if there is any question of safety in regards to your coming to church. I am including the gospel for the day (below) and I invite you to use this gospel for your own reflection and prayer if you cannot make it to church. We who are many are One Body….even when we are not all together in one space!

The Interfaith MLK Service at Centre Church that was scheduled for Sunday has been postponed until Monday at 4 pm. All are invited to attend as we gather together with our brothers and sisters from other faith traditions.

Luke 6: 27-36

‘But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

‘If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
