SUMMARY:YES CHURCH IS STILL HAPPENING!
DESCRIPTION:Dear St. Michael’s\,\n\nWe know that there is a significant snow storm arriving to our region this evening\, but wanted to reassure you that CHURCH IS ON although Bishop Gayle Harris will not be with us.  In addition\, we have Evensong happening at 5:00 pm on Sunday and all the events scheduled for MLK Day on Monday are STILL HAPPENING.  The Budget Meeting will most likely be moved to Sunday\, January 27 at 9am (no forum that day).\n\nHowever\, I want to encourage you to stay home if there is any question of safety in regards to your coming to church.  I am including the gospel for the day (below) and I invite you to use this gospel for your own reflection and prayer if you cannot make it to church.  We who are many are One Body….even when we are not all together in one space!\n\nThe Interfaith MLK Service at Centre Church that was scheduled for Sunday has been postponed until Monday at 4 pm.  All are invited to attend as we gather together with our brothers and sisters from other faith traditions.\n\nYours in Christ\,\n\nMary\n\nGospel for Sunday:\n\nLuke 6: 27-36\n\n\n\n ‘But I say to you that listen\, Love your enemies\, do good to those who hate you\, bless those who curse you\, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek\, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods\, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you. \n‘If you love those who love you\, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you\, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive\, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners\, to receive as much again. But love your enemies\, do good\, and lend\, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great\, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked. Be merciful\, just as your Father is merciful. \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Preparing for a Holy Lent for all Ages
DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY MARCH 3 DURING COFFEE HOUR\, “PREPARING FOR LENT: CRAFTING CROSSES\, ANGLICAN ROSARY BEADS\, PRAYER BAGS” — With a desire to prepare our hearts and homes for the mystery of Easter\, the Ministry of Discipleship and Discernment will be offering Lenten activities during coffee hour on Sunday\, March 3. All ages are invited to assemble and finish a beautiful wooden cross crafted by our parishioner Bruce Lawrence. These can be brought home to use as a focal point for prayer during Lent. Darcey Mercier will also be offering a lesson on how to use the Anglican rosary beads. She will have plenty to give away for those interested in incorporating this practice in their prayer life. \nAll may gather additional take-home Lenten crafts and prayers to use for each Sunday of Lent. Rosie Wojcik\, Megan Buchanan\, and Jeff Hiam have sewn cotton tote bags for transporting these materials home. The bags can be decorated at the event and our hope is to use them again for other liturgical seasons. We invite you to join us as we anticipate the coming of Lent!

SUMMARY:Maundy Thursday Service
DESCRIPTION:The word maundy is derived from the Latin word mandatum (commandment) and refers to Jesus giving the “new commandment” to “love one another as I have loved you” to his disciples at the Last Supper (John 13:34). The Maundy Thursday service commemorates the Last Supper and often focuses on two things Jesus did at the Last Supper: the washing of the disciples’ feet and the institution of the sacrament of Holy Communion. The service ends in complete silence with the stripping of the altar\, in recognition of Jesus’ prayers in the Garden of Gethsemane and the despair and death to come.
