DESCRIPTION:RECOVERY SUNDAY\, MAY 26:  Celebrating our 5th annual Recovery Sunday\, we have invited Robert Stack\, a drug and alcohol therapist from the Brattleboro Retreat for 29 years\, to share his recovery through the 12 steps and speak about the connection between spiritual renewal and long-term sobriety. On this special Sunday\, we will celebrate God in action in people’s lives and acknowledge that recovery comes in every shape and form.  Instead of wine for Holy Communion\, we will use grape juice for all on this day.

DESCRIPTION:L’ARCHE IN VERMONT? AN EXPLORATORY GATHERING AT ST. MICHAEL’S\, SUNDAY 8/25 3-5 PM: St. Michael’s is hosting a gathering with members of the L‘Arche Boston community and with Vermonters of all interests and abilities. The goal will be  to better understand L‘Arche\, to imagine what is possible in this state\, and to discuss next steps. The journey to start a community takes years; this is an exploratory first step.  L’Arche communities “provide homes and workplaces where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together as peers\, create inclusive communities of faith and friendship\, and transform society through relationships that cross social boundaries” (www.larcheusa.org). Today\, there are 147 member communities of L’Arche in 35 countries. DESCRIPTION:All Saints’ Day celebrated on Sunday\, November 3 \nI have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints\, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. – Paul’s letter to the Ephesians \nOn November 3\, St. Michael’s will celebrate the Feast of All Saints’ at both the 8 am and the 10:15 am service.  During this service\, we will remember those saints who have gone before us and loved ones who have died\, as well as recognize ourselves as those ‘saints’ who have been called to follow Jesus with our whole selves.   On this day\, we will remember in our prayers those who have died during the last year. \n\nIf you have people you would like to be named in the prayers\, please add them to the book in the back of the church.\nIf you have pictures of loved ones who have died whose lives you want to give thanks for\, we will provide two tables in the chancel area (in front of the altar and in the corner) as a visible reminder of the saints who have come before us for worship that day.\nBecause this is a major feast day\, we will have incense at the 10:15 am service.\n\n

DESCRIPTION:TAIZE SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE\, NOVEMBER 3\, 4 P.M:  Our candlelit service at St. Michael’s as we celebrate All Saints’ Day features simple harmonious chants\, short readings or prayers\, periods of silence\, and the lighting of candles as we remember those whom we love but see no more.  Those who wish may bring a photo or a memorial object to place near the candle lighting area. Taize gets its name from the Taize community in France\, which was founded in 1940 and which served as a shelter for political refugees fleeing persecution during World War II. Thousands of pilgrims still travel to the ecumenical\, monastic community of Taize yearly to attend teachings on trust\, peace and reconciliation.

SUMMARY:Christmas Pageant Rehearsals Begin!
DESCRIPTION:Calling all toddlers\, children and teens!  \nJoin St. Michael’s Christmas Eve pageant and help bring the Nativity to life for our parish. \n We invite all children and youth to be part of the Christmas Eve Christmas Pageant. \nThis is a joyous event full of singing\, mystery\, surprise and joy! \nRehearsals begin on Sunday\, December 1\, from 9-10 am and will continue at the same time on December 8\, 15\, 22 and possibly on the 23rd.  December 24 is the day of the Pageant. All should arrive at 3:15. The pageant begins at 4:00 p.m. \nWe invite youth from outside the Parish to join in\, too. Kids: if you have friends from school or the neighborhood who’d like to be part of the pageantry\, please encourage them to come join us.

DESCRIPTION:ADVENT PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP: EVENSONG\, SIMPLE MEAL\, AND IMAGINATIVE PRAYER – DECEMBER 3\, 10\, 17: Advent is a time of waiting and anticipation. Come prepare your heart and mind for Christmas through the ancient Anglican liturgy of Evensong. Stay for a simple supper in community. End the night by practicing imaginative prayer – envisioning yourself in the major stories of the season and reflecting on what they mean for you. People may attend for any portion of any evening. Childcare with activities will be available at supper and afterward.  5:15 – Evensong; 6:00 – simple supper in the undercroft; 6:30 – Imaginative Prayer: Listening for God’s in your life through the Advent stories. \n
