ASH WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 12 NOON AND 5:30 PM
Ash Wednesday, a reminder of human mortality and the need for reconciliation with God, marks the beginning of the penitential Lenten season, the 40 days representing Christ’s time of temptation in the wilderness.
The services at noon and 5:30PM (with music) include the imposition of ashes and Holy Eucharist. All are welcome.
In addition, St. Michael’s Coop Bible Study led by Rev. adwoa Wilson pivots on Ash Wednesday to a Lenten study of the Sermon on the Mount. Through Easter Week all are welcome to join the study and discussion Wednesday mornings, from 8:30 to 10:00 in the cafe of the Brattleboro Coop. “In addition to the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew: 5-7,” says Rev. Wilson, “we will be drawing on the reflections in the Lenten devotional created by the Communities for Spiritual Vitality.” Digital copies can be accessed free here.
